Do you have some time to spend helping others in your local community who have become isolated or lonely. Perhaps you want to develop skills for the workplace or would like to change your career path?
Volunteering can be an opportunity to be part of your community, meet new people and make connections, be part of something that can make you feel valuable, give you a sense of achievement and of knowing that your time is valued. It can also give you the prospect of trying something new.
Some examples of the roles are:-
Spending time in a care home with someone who never receives a visitor or helping the activity coordinator with organised activities ie. craft, bingo or sing song..
Playlist for Life – be a musical detective and spend time with someone finding out what their favourite tunes are which is beneficial to people as they get older and especially if someone has a dementia diagnosis.
Befriender roles in the community such as having a cuppie and a chat with someone who can no longer leave the house or taking someone out for a coffee if they are more mobile.
Helping someone back to a group activity, taking them out for a short walk or to spectate at a sport they used to love.

PKHSCP aims to work alongside individuals, communities, statutory, independent and third sector providers to ensure people can live as positive and independent a life as possible within their own community and to help people feel included rather than socially isolated. Volunteers connecting and supporting people are a key part of making that aim a reality.
We also welcome contact from organisations or groups where volunteering is encouraged such as 3rd Sector partners and those working on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Our Volunteer Co-ordinators can assist with matching people to health and social care volunteering opportunities.
