Detailed description

Volunteer Role Overview

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Sessional Community Football Coaches to join our team and support the delivery of our community football activities. You will play a role in the set up and delivery of fun and inclusive football sessions for children and young people - from pre-schoolers to teenagers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about sport and community, and who want to use their time and energy to make a real difference through football. Whether you’re an aspiring coach, a student, a football parent, or someone looking to give back, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a Volunteer sessional Coach, you’ll support our coaching team in delivering high-quality, engaging football sessions which are fun, inclusive, and age-appropriate. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with the delivery of sessions
  • Helping set up and pack away equipment
  • Encouraging participation and building confidence in children and young people
  • Supporting children of all abilities, including those with additional needs
  • Representing the Community Trust in a positive and professional manner
  • Helping to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all

Where appropriate, additional opportunities may include:

  • Learning to record session attendances
  • Leading warm-ups, skill-based activities, or full sessions
  • Mentoring or supporting younger volunteers
  • Assisting in wider community football events

Volunteer football coaching hours are primarily early evenings and/or Saturday mornings during the school term with further opportunities available during the School Holiday periods. Trust activities are primarily based in Perth, with other opportunities in Pitlochry and occasionally Crieff and Kinross. We understand volunteers have other commitments and we are happy to work with you to create a flexible schedule which suits your availability.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be a qualified coach to get started - what matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, and willingness to help.

Essential:

  • Enjoy working with children and young people
  • Friendly, supportive, and confident in a team setting
  • Punctual, organised, and respectful of responsibilities
  • A passion for football, physical activity, or youth development

Desirable:

  • Previous experience volunteering or working with young people
  • Basic coaching experience or interest in developing coaching skills
  • First Aid knowledge or certification
  • Willingness to complete relevant safeguarding training and PVG Disclosure Scotland application

Benefits

Volunteering with the Community Trust comes with a range of rewarding opportunities and support to help you grow both personally and professionally:

  • A chance to make a positive difference in the lives of young people
  • Experience in community sport and youth engagement
  • Opportunities to develop your coaching skills and gain confidence
  • Access to training, with financial support offered for Scottish FA qualifications
  • Access to mentoring and ongoing support
  • Access to discount partner
  • Being part of a welcoming, fun, and committed team

Is This You?

We’re looking for volunteers who bring energy and kindness to every session. If you’re someone who:

  • Loves making children smile and feel included
  • Is happy to get stuck in, be a bit silly when needed, and lead with enthusiasm
  • Wants to learn and grow in a community sport setting

…then we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer opportunities available in Perth, Kinross, Crieff and Pitlochry.

Subject to PVG being completed.
