Community Hub Volunteer

To support the smooth operation of our Perth Community Hub, helping to facilitate our communities programmes. Helping to deliver on our customer facing activities, ensuring each interaction leaves people feeling supported and happy. This will have a positive impact on our capacity to support access to bikes and cycling in Perth.

The minimum volunteer commitment is 3-4 hours per week, ideally you will be available for at least one set time slot every week.  

The time slots currently available are:

• Wednesdays - 15:00 - 17:00
• Thursdays - 15:00 - 17:00
• Fridays - 15:00 - 17:00
• Saturdays - 12:00 - 16:00

The main tasks you would get involved with are:

• Helping to keep the Community Hub clean, clear and accessible for incoming customers as well as mechanics working on site. 
• Welcoming customers into the Community Hub and supporting them with any questions they may have, being comfortable when this exceeds your knowledge level and passing them over to a member of staff. 
• Supporting the collection and return of free to access bikes from our Wee Bike Library, Kids Bike Life and Shifting Gears programmes. 
• Fitting bells to bikes, as well as handing out appropriate accessories to ensure customers have the best experience possible. 
• Taking promotional photographs (with clear consent sought first) and registering customer details ahead of a bike loan. 
• Accepting and recording donated bikes as they come into the hub, ensuring they are accurately labelled and safely stored. 
• Answering questions from customers e.g. about cycling options and routes in Perth, as well as about The Bike Station’s programmes and activities. 
• Supporting promotional activities and events both in the hub and in the wider community. These could include monthly pop up sales and Dr Bike maintenance sessions.
