Summary

Our Youth Ambassadors are young people 14-18 of any gender. Being an Ambassador is being a change maker in your peer group and community.

Detailed description

Our group meets every two weeks for one hour. We focus on a variety of topics and activities related to gender equality and sexual violence. In the past, group members have organized fundraisers at their schools, spoken at assemblies, created promotional materials, participated in consultations, connected with other groups at summer events, attended Pride as well as other local events, and hosted information stalls.

We also offer volunteering hours for DofE and Saltire awards.

If you do not currently live in Perth but are still in Perth and Kinross, we would be happy to connect you with our other youth ambassador groups.

This role aims to provide you with information on preventing sexual violence and hopefully support positive change in your local community.

About RASAC P&K

RASAC P&K (Rape and sexual abuse Centre, Perth and Kinross)

We provide support for Women and Transwomen (all ages) and all Young People (12-18yrs) who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives.

RASAC P&K has been on the go since 2007, and has developed from an attic space run by a few dedicated volunteers to the centre we are now over a dozen members of staff and many wonderful volunteers.

We are committed to challenging gender-based violence and recognize that sexual violence is both a cause and consequence of gender inequality in our society.
We offer free and confidential support to women and transwomen and all young people between the age of 12-18 who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives.
We offer support regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, transgender identity, age, disability, and religious and cultural background.
We also, through our RASAC Youth Initiative, work with young people age 12-18 across Perth & Kinross delivering a series of prevention workshops in schools and community settings as well as deliver training to professionals.
Please note that although we are part of a wider Scottish Rape Crisis network, each of the 17 center's is a separate independent charity with individual constitutions, practice policies, recruitment policies and different ways of working with survivors and their individual needs.
