Summary

Supporting our clients age 16+ to engage in joinery and woodworking activities under the supervision of our staff and within a mental health setting.

Detailed description

Wisecraft provides joinery and woodworking activities for our clients to support their recovery journey. At the Wisecraft Joinery Workshop, supported by staff and volunteers, our clients create and repair furniture, garden pieces and small craft items. The activity provides a foundation for our clients to build self-confidence and gain skills which may support their recovery and possibly lead to employment if desired.

You will develop good relationships with clients and provide support and guidance in using tools and equipment under the direction of the joinery supervisor. It is desirable that you will have some DIY, woodwork and/or joinery skills.

The role would require you to be a good listener with a pleasant personality and a good sense of humour. You will be non-judgemental, be able to provide support and encouragement and work well as part of a team. Knowledge of any aspect of joinery or woodwork is desirable, but we can also provide some training.

About PKAVS Walled Garden & Wisecraft

The Walled Garden and Wisecraft (PKAVS) provides mental health and wellbeing support based across two service locations, The Walled Garden in Perth and Wisecraft in Blairgowrie.

We support people (aged 16+) on their journey of recovery to lead healthy, active, inclusive, and connected lives, through a range of meaningful and skilled-based activities. We use an integrated care approach and work towards moving people into positive destinations by increasing resilience, confidence, and skills. We use horticulture in a therapeutic manner, as well as offering creative arts, physical and nutritional activity, woodwork, and food preparation engagement options.
