Many of our trustees have been on the Board of Neuro Central for some years. We are looking for experienced trustees to bring fresh insight to our charity
Neuro Central is a small charity run by volunteers which aims to support those with a neurological condition in a friendly relaxed environment, so no-one feels alone. We do this through meetings in Auchterarder, Perth and Stirling, all of which are run by volunteers. The feedback that we get from those coming to our meetings confirms that we are providing a service that is valued, and we want to keep it going.
This endorsement from one of our members is typical of how they all feel about Neuro Central: “The mental health benefits I get from Neuro Central extend to a sense of community and shared experience. This makes me feel less isolated and helps me cope with the condition I have. I felt a sense of relief that I could speak and interact with a person who knows what being me feels like.”
Many of our trustees and volunteers are themselves living with a neurological condition. They want to keep Neuro Central going. However, some have been involved as trustees since the founding of the charity in 2016 and we need refreshing. Could you join our Board as a trustee, and possibly as Vice Chair?
At the moment, the trustees are involved in much of the day to day running of the charity. We would like to recruit people with previous experience as a trustee to help us develop our charity into a more sustainable organisation.
In particular, we need experience in:
- Strategic development
- Volunteer recruitment and management
- Board management
We would also ask for an interest in the regular operations of Neuro Central.
The time commitments asked for are:
- Attending Board meetings as required but generally no more than every three months. Meetings are either held remotely through Zoom or in person at one of our meeting locations. There will be some additional time as follow-ups to meetings.
If you wish, this commitment can extend to:
- Filling the role of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer. These roles are each filled by a trustee.
- Attending monthly Sub-Committee meetings which are generally held remotely through Zoom.
- Involvement with Member Meetings and Fundraising Events
If you support our aim to help those with a neurological condition and you have these skills, we’d love to hear from you. All our current trustees are associated with the Stirling activities. While we welcome applications from anywhere in Central Scotland, we would like to hear from you if you are in the Perthshire area. This would give voice and representation to that area at Board level.
